(Written for Boolean Flix)

Viggo Mortenson has confirmed he will not appear in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit.

During a recent interview, Mortenson admitted producers had been in talks with the star to reprise his role in the Lord of the Rings spin-off, yet suggested his character would not ‘fit’ with the original Hobbit storyline.

Reprising their roles, Orlando Bloom and Cate Blanchette have already been confirmed for the epic which looks set to be split into two parts.

Starring Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, part one of Jackson’s adaptation of the 1937 novel is due for release in December 2012, with the working title The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.
