Shot in the increasingly popular found footage format, superhero film Chronicle follows the narrative of three high school friends who make an incredible discovery, which leads them to develop superpowers.
As they learn to harness their new-found abilities, they start to use their powers on others to their advantage. When Andrew uses his superpower to veer an impatient driver off the road, down an embankment and into a river, his two friends begin to realise what started off as fun has turned into something dangerous.
The trio soon find their lives spiralling out of control and their bond tested to the limit as they each embrace their darker sides, resulting in disastrous consequences that cannot be reversed.
Using their powers on others, the group of friends decide to film themselves playing pranks on other people. However whilst driving home Andrew, one of the boys, uses his superpower to veer an impatient driver off the road, down an embankment and into a river.
Following in the format of recent flicks Apollo 18 and Paranormal Activity 3, and directed by newcomer Josh Trank, Chronicle looks set to deliver an original, brooding and captivating take on the superhero formula.
