Funny man Jim Carrey could be set to reprise his role as God in a follow-up to the 2003 hit Bruce Almighty.

Achieving Box Office success during 2003 and shortly after breaking records as earning the reputation as being one of the most successful comedies of all time in America, the Canadian comedian is being eyed up to reprise his role as Bruce Nolan, a TV reporter who is offered the opportunity to play God.

After the indirect sequel Evan Almighty, starring Steve Carrell, flopped at the Box Office in 2007, Universal Pictures are now in early talks with producers to try again, and to continue the series with Carrey onboard.

Carrey has previously hinted at speculation that he would consider revisiting the comedy, telling online film website ComingSoon: “We’re talking about maybe returning to some old characters that everyone has been talking about, this included Bruce Almighty.”

Early rumours suggest the studio has hired Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel (Yes Man) to write a script for a Bruce Almighty sequel – which will refocus on Carrey’s news reporter character.
