First Trailer For Tim Burton’s ‘Frankenweenie’

(Written for Rough Cut Reviews)

The first trailer for Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie has emerged online.

The black and white  animation, a remake of Burton’s 1984 directorial début, sees the film centred on Victor (voiced by Charlie Tahan), a young boy who brings his pet dog Sparky back from the dead after he is hit by a car.

Featuring the voices of Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Landau and Martin Short, Frankenweenie sees Burton return to the style of stop-motion animation, previously seen in 2005’s Corpse Bride, and 1993’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Frankenweenie sees the return of Burton since 2010’s Alice in Wonderland, which received mixed reviews from critics. The director, who is best-known for his dark visual style, is to release a string of films later this year, with Dark Shadows and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire both pencilled in for a 2012 release.

Distributed by Walt Disney studios, Frankenweenie will open in UK cinemas in October 2012.
